A basic common room set up, for tentative alliances to be struck

DAphne walked up to the room wondering why she even came. The gryffindor girl had sent her a message that she wanted to meet and talk. She wondered what the other girl could want, but her curiousity took over and so she walked into the room and looked around. The Weasley girl wasn't here yet so Daphne looked around some more.

(lol, not what I had in mind when I said Ginny would follow her in, but I'll go with it)

The door swung open a few minutes later, a slightly pale, haggard looking Ginny making her way in. Honestly she was still feeling the effects of Malfoy's Crucios, for all it had been a few days, her body stiff and slow. Then again, it likely would have helped if she could afford the potion parts to get some pain relief, but she needed to keep them for the juniour years - she could deal with it... they couldn't, and Pomfrey was off limits to them save for life and death circumstances.

Still, she put on her best game face, hiding her discomfort as she met Greengrass's eyes, stepping into the room and swinging the door shut behind her.

"I wasn't sure you'd come," she remarked evenly.

DAphne noticed the look and wondered which of the teacher's bad side she had already experienced but she didn't say anything about it. "WEll that makes two of us, but here I am. So what did you want to talk about?" she asked looking around the room double checking that it was really just the two of them. She knew of the Room of Requirement and how it worked, but with the current situation you could never be too careful and meeting with the leader of the light of Hogwarts could be counted as very bad behaviour on her side.

Ginny shrugged as she moved deeper into the room eyes examining the other girl. She had been prepared for more dancing around each other, familiar with, if not fond of the usual pureblood practice of verbal fencing and niceties, however being a blunt person by nature it suited her better to skip over all that so she was glad to be given the excuse.

"I wanted to ask how you were getting on with our new teachers," she offered, expresison and gaze serious as she kept her eyes trained on the other's face.

For a moment DAphne's face fell and if you looked then you could have noticed the fear and agony in her eyes but then she composed herself and put on her slytherin mask "Well I haven't really run into one yet." she admited. Afterall she had tried to stay clear of them until it was her first class "I'm *curious* how their classes will be." she said slightly sarcastic.

"what you think of them I probably don't have to ask." she added raising an inquiring eyebrow.

"No you don't," the redhead replied, tone dryly amused, moving to take a seat on the couch (to ease her aching joints more than because it looked casual).

Her eyes shifted back to the other girl, studying her face as she lifted a slender shoulder.

"You know for a Slytherin, you're remarkably bad at hiding your feelings."

DAphne frowned she knew she wasn't the best but the Gryffindor couldn't have read her already. "I don't know what you mean." she said not looking at the red haired girl.

Ginny shot her a knowing look.

"I have five brothers. I know how to read people," she countered. "I've been watching you since that day in the Owlery. You can drop the act. You practically flinch whenever the Carrows or Lestrange passes you, you look away every time someone brings up the regime change or how things are being run in Hogwarts, you never agree with any of the usual slurs or cheers about how great its going to be..."

"You don't like this any more than I do, I'd wager," she concluded calmly.

Daphne turned to look at the Weasley girl she had assesed her correctely but she coudn't admit that now could she? And if she had already found out how much loonger would it take the rest of the people to figgure out her true feelings? Draco was going to kill her for bein so obvious.

"SO what are you going to do now? Tell on me? Get me into trouble? Get me killed?" she asked raising an eyebrow.

Ginny snorted and glanced over drolly.

"Don't be so melodramatic. Why would I do that?" she pointed out pragmatically. "You and I want the same thing - for things to go back the way they were. I see that as a positive, not a negative. I dob you in I'll be playing their game and I'll be making sure no other Slytherin dares to feel like you do."

Daphne watched Ginny curiously and contemplated her words. If they were true her respect for the red head just grew immensely. "Thanks I guess." She said still unsure on how to really act here and what to say.

[Ginny Weasley]

"I'm offering you a friendship," the redhead continued bluntly, eyes remaining on Daphne's petite form. "Somewhere you can let your guard down and not have to pretend, where you can speak your mind without worrying about it getting back to them."

Daphne blinked studying the red headed girl "A freindship?" she asked tentiatively she hadn't expected that. SHe wondered if she could trust Ginny, but the offer to let her guard down for once in a while sounded tempting to her. She looked up looking into Ginny's eyes trying to figure out if the other girl was being sincere or if she had some other agenda and just wanted to humiliate her.

"Yeah," the redhead returned, tone easy as she gave a firm nod. "The way I see it, you could use a friend that you don't need to dance around and honestly, I could do with one that doesn't expect me to somehow save the day, or produce Harry Potter."

Okay so that wasn't all there was to it, but it was at least part of the reason. Fact was while she had no intention of trusting the girl straight away, if their rebellion could start spreading to the Slytherins or recruiting them, then they might actually have a chance here.

DAphne conteplated the offer, well she could extend the hand of friendship it wouldn't mean she'D trust the gryffindor with everything "Ok we can try the friendship thing." she said giving a tentiative smile.

"That wasn't so hard was it?" she asked back wryly, her eyes flickering over the other girl a moment before gesturing her to sit.

DAphne took the offered seat "No it wasn't." she said "So what happened to you?" she asked taking in the other girl's appearance.

Ginny grimaced and lifted a hand to massage at the back of her stiff neck as she lifted a shoulder.

"I'm a Weasley in castle full of Death Eaters," she pointed out dryly. "Take a wild guess."

"YOu got tortured." she said with a sigh, glad that at least for now she hadn't seen the bad end of the stick yet. "I got something for you." she offerd fumbling in her bag for a potion she now always kept with her.

[Ginny Weasley]

Ginny watched as the girl turned to rummage in her back before returning with a potion bottle that she offered over, the redhead's eyebrows raising in surprise before her mouth tugged up in vague humour.

What was it with Slytherin's giving her pain potions right now?


"Thanks, I appreciate the offer but I don't need it," she offered back shaking her head. "I've already taken some."

Sadly they had limited effect on the aftermath of curcios so she was stuck waiting it out really.

"Suit yourself." Daphne replied and pocketed the vial again.

"What about you?" the redhead ventured curiously, eyes running over the dark haired girl. "Had much hassle from anyone yet?"
